About Real Life Ministries
Real Life Ministries exists to see real people experience real hope and real life change through authentic relationships and the transforming love of Jesus.
We serve people unhoused or experiencing hardship throughout the St. Louis area by providing food, clothing, hygiene products, blankets, and other essential supplies.
Our mission goes beyond meeting immediate needs. We take time to listen, learn people’s stories, offer prayer and encouragement, and remind each person that they are seen, valued, and loved.
Through practical support, personal connection, and consistent presence, we seek to restore dignity, strengthen hope, and help people take meaningful steps toward greater stability and a renewed sense of purpose.
Our Story
Real Life Ministries grew from Bob and Pam Bay’s own journey through addiction, recovery, marriage, faith, and rebuilding a life together.
Bob began drinking as a teenager, and his substance use eventually grew into daily alcohol use and addiction to methamphetamine and other drugs. By his early twenties, he was serving in the Army, married to Pam, raising a young daughter, and watching his career, finances, and family begin to fall apart.
In 1989, Bob reached a turning point. Through recovery meetings, the support of others, and a growing awareness of God’s presence, he began the difficult work of leaving drugs and alcohol behind. But sobriety was only the beginning. Bob came to understand that lasting recovery also required facing the shame, fear, anger, broken relationships, and patterns beneath the addiction.
Pam remained an essential part of that journey. Bob describes their marriage as one marked by hardship, grace, perseverance, and a commitment to continue lifting one another up. Together, they rebuilt their family and learned that healing rarely happens alone.
Over time, God used people who listened, showed compassion, lived their faith consistently, and treated Bob with dignity. Their example helped shape his belief that people are often reached through the way we live and serve, not through words alone.
That experience became the heart of Real Life Ministries: meeting practical needs, building genuine relationships, sharing the hope of Jesus Christ, and reminding people that their past does not have to determine their future.
